I've really only read books by Brandon Sanderson (the Mistborn trilogy and the first two Stormlight Archive books) and am looking for a different author. Preferably I'd like to read a standalone book (not that it can't have sequels), I just don't want to need to read a whole series to get the full story at the moment). Any suggestions appreciated
