Someone on youtube mentioned a movie based on a book about a hunter who gets stranded on an island where he's hunted by another hunter, and I thought about how interesting it would be if the entire book was just him being scared, reacting to things and giving his inner monologue while he tries to survive, for some reason I'm getting a sort of cozy vibe from the idea. I can't describe exactly the feeling it gives me but if anyone knows any books like that, where it's just the thoughts of the mc instead of some huge plot, I'd love to read them.
I know A Dance to the Music of Time does it, it's called a roman-fleuve I think, but that series is a bit too tedious and verbose for me to sink hours into

**Desiree** by Selinko is the fictionalized account of Desiree Clary, Napoleon’s first fiancee; told through her diary.
So I’m pretty sure the movie they were talking about is actually the book The Most Dangerous Game
“Death In Her Hands” by Ottessa Moshfegh. It stays inside the head of an older lady as she tries to solve a crime. But it’s hardly about the plot and much more about her unease/sense of almost unveiling a conspiracy
