So, my all-time favorite media sources include things like death games, heavy gore, human experimentation both psychologically and physically, usually they're in asylum or lab settings, also usually they focus on psychological experiments. Anything that takes inspiration from Project MKUltra or other experiment project falls in this category. Examples include Outlast (video game series), Stranger Things (TV), Squid Game (TV), SOMA (video game).
Anyone got any books that could fit whatever specific genre this is?

How do you feel about YA books? I just read The Loop by Jeremy Johnson and it has a ton of this stuff
Someone mentions asylum, my brain jumps to Shutter Island.. It doesn’t tick all the boxes you mentioned, but worth checking out. It’s one of my favorites.
