Hi everyone! I want to get out of my reading slump and try something new. I'm into mystery, crime fiction, true crime, etc. My favourite authors are Lisa Jewell, Lisa Gardner, Ann Rule. Does anyone have any good suggestions?
With mystery in mind, have you given Agatha Christie a shot? Obviously a bit older than any of your other authors, but perhaps served as a solid inspiration to your favorites!

Can you give me an idea of what Ann Rule/true crime books you have already read?

You might enjoy Simone St James, try The Sun Down Motel.
It’s a paranormal mystery.
Caroline Mitchell is really good with mysteries. I loved The Midnight Man

I mean, if you want to “try something new” then you might as well try a new genre. I was never in to horror because I thought it was all jump scares, monsters, and gore. I read {{A Short Stay in Hell by Steven Peck}} and it really broadened my horizons in what I look for. Bonus points for being only ~100 pages so you don’t have to “waste” a lot of time if you don’t like it.

A curious beginning, the veronica speedwell series. By Deanna Rayborn I think?
