Looking for anything engrossing enough to absorb me for my upcoming 27 hours in transit. Open to all genres – especially fond of fantastical realism (Erin Morgenstern) or romance. But always exploring and trying new things. Bonus points if it’s old enough that I can get it on Libby rather than purchase content.
Thanks in advance!
ETA: I love this sub, people are so engaged! Ty for all suggestions – keep them coming!

Dracula really holds up and will be easy to get on libby.
The Bone Witch series by Rin Chupeco, if you’re up for a good fantasy trilogy.
The outlander series!
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
Another long and interesting option is the Thessaly trilogy by Jo Walton.
Strange Bodies by Marcel Thereaux
People who Eat Darkness by Richard Loyd Parry
Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles –A magic Inn, space werewolves and vampires, a lot of really unique aliens, mystery, romance, action, a fun and humorous series
Sarah Addison Allen does magical realism – Garden Spells is a good one to start with
Starter Villain by John Scalzi
Margo’s Got Money Problems
Robin Hobb is a completely underrated fantasy author.
She has written four(?) separate trilogies, all in the same universe.
They all have great characters that grow and develop over time — along with what you learn about the world.
I’d start with the Farseer Trilogy, which begins with the Assassin’s Apprentice.
I found the fantasy/romance of Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey also very compelling and absorbing.
