The last books I really enjoyed were Antkind by Charlie Kaufman and Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg. I really liked them for their surreal stories and absurd humor, but the also had multi-dimensional, flawed but likeable characters and heart. I would love to read more books like that and I'm looking forward to your recommendations 🙂

Carl Hiaasen’s work might be up your alley.
Also, obligatory Piranesi mention.
Ulysses by James Joyce, Awake and Sublunar by Harald Voetmann, anything by Clarice Lispector and Kurt Vonnegut,
Mr B Gone by Clive Barker.
The Seep by Chana Porter is very weird and surreal, but also explores dealing with grief.
