looking for themes of reminiscing on the past, lost memories, lost love, grief, etc.
there is a pattern in all of these pieces of media that I find so compelling; a distant and lost love, a search through an archive, begging to retain something from the past.
the only book that comes to mind is kaveh akbar's "martyr!" – which I loved.

Try “Hazards of Time Travel” by Joyce Carol Oates. It’s not perfect, but I enjoyed it. Protag is sent back in time as punishment and gradually loses her memories of her life/family
Maybe The Remains of the Day?
A Scanner Darkly, Philip J Dick
Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk
The Time Travelers Wife, Audrey Niffenhegger
Also not a book rec, but if you haven’t already seen it 100% recommend the tv series Dollhouse. It has Dichen Lachman who plays Gemma in Severance, in a very similar role- someone with artificially split personalities trapped in a system with a bunch of other split people, and there’s a love story.
