I haven’t read Love and Virtue, but have read Cat’s Eye. Have you read The Robber Bride by Atwood? It’s also got female friendships (in a bit of a twisted way).

I haven’t read the books you mentioned, but I think probably the greatest literary female friendship ever is the friendship between Lila and Lenù in the *Neapolitan Novels*, by Elena Ferrante.
