Pet peeve: I wish publishers would release word count.

Pretty much title. Page counts just do not actually do anything to tell you how long a book is. I've read 700 page books that were shorter than 500 page books just because of font size.

I've taken to looking at audiobook length and multiplying that by 9,150 (supposedly the average number of words narrators read per hour). It's better than nothing but I wish I could just actually know.

Anybody else annoyed by this or am I just insane for even caring? (the answer is yes I am, but would it be a pet peeve if it was actually worth caring about?)
