I’m doing a tour of Germany and Prague. I’m a fan of horror of most types, including slashers, monsters, possession. Double points if it’s psychological in some way. Looking for something that fits the mood and backdrop of present day OR historic Central Europe.

I prefer short books. (250ish pages) if possible but I’m open to longer. Anthologies welcome.

I prefer for it to be standalone and not part of a series.

Not exactly the same region, but not super far off, I was thinking about Dracula by Bram stoker.

    2. The Devil’s Elixirs by E.T.A. Hoffmann and The Golem by Gustav Meyrinck are two German-language horror classics

    3. Not short but a fantastic book to read would be The Historian. It took the author a decade to research and write. It delves into the story of the original Vlad the Impaler and how the Dracula story got started. It is told through a series of letters all over Europe.
