I am currently reading Picasso’s War by Hugh Eakin. It isn’t just about Picasso, it’s a really interesting examination of how the appreciation for “modern art” came to be what it is today. There’s so much context and history that was happening at the same time those artists were around (like both world wars, the Great Depression, etc.) and all of that is so fascinating to me. I think the author does a great job of weaving everything together and telling the story from multiple perspectives in an interesting way.
