Hi wonderful people
Can you please suggest me a book for a 15 year old boy who favours character driven stories not fantasy. Having looked through this subreddit I can see a lot of recs for fantasy for teens, but really looking for a book that shows teens experiencing hard stuff but things getting better. the gender of the protagonist doesn't matter, but something you think a 15 year old boy would get into.
thanks for any ideas!!

*Monster*, by Walter Dean Myers
*Tyrell*, by Coe Booth? I’m not sure if things so much get better as the protagonist’s understanding matures. It’s been a while.
I’ve mostly read fantasy lately, but here are some non-fantasy books I’d recommend. They’re all very different from one another, so perhaps there’s one he’ll like.
Beartown by Fredrik Backman (first in a trilogy)
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery (there’s a TV series and anime adaption as well)
Six Impossible Things by Fiona Woods (first in a trilogy)
The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton (there’s also a movie adaption)
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾ by Sue Townsend
Read the Bible, it’s useful for your age and having a good character
