I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a disabled person, nor do I know many people with disabilities. In fact, there's very little I know about living with disabilities. However, I'm a sucker for biographies, and I wanna know more about the topic.
I recently read Strong Female Character by Fern Brady. It was very eye-opening. She talked in detail about her experience as an autistic person, and I learned a lot about her condition.
From time to time, I also watch documentaries. And, a particularly good documentary I recently watched was about people with OCD. It was very shocking. And again, eye-opening.
Not long ago, I happened to watch some reels of people with disabilities (wheelchair-bound) that train a lot more than me, which made me feel a bit guilty because I should be taking better care of my body (insert self-derisive laugh). They have a harder time making progress, and they are doing a lot more.
It sparked my interest, and I read some testimonies. Very heart-rending and detailed testimonies that shocked me to my stomach.
Can anyone suggest me a book (preferrably non-fiction/biographical) about living with disabilities? The struggles they have dating, training, traveling… I wanna know more.
