book recs for middle school boy

i want to get my nephew a book that will encourage him to be less of a little shit sometimes. He has a hard time understanding why you would do random acts of kindness for people. I understand that he’s a middle school boy and it kind of comes with the territory but i’d like to find something to hopefully encourage him out of this phase
