I’m looking for fiction authors that I haven’t tried yet and have read most authors that are mentioned on this subreddit so would love some that are not mentioned as often. Looking for either contemporary or historical fiction genre-wise.
While I’m not opposed to long books, I prefer starting with shorter works by an author first to see if I want to try more.
It doesn’t happen often that I find something I can’t put down but I would love to have that experience again. Have tried a few recently that I had to DNF – primary reasons being language on every single page (just seemed excessive and unnecessary to the storyline and I am not a fan of this) and bad writing.
I love books that are rich in characterization, atmosphere, writing, plot or all of these. I also love interesting information in a read.
Authors I’ve enjoyed: Michener, Jhumpa Lahiri, Connie Willis, Philip K. Dick, Chaim Potok, Charles Portis, etc.
