I've read Lady Chatterly's Lover, and that probably fits this request, but I'm looking for something more contemporary. Something beautiful and profound, but also steamy. Maybe something like Atonement by Ian McEwan, but with a greater focus on the romance. Thanks!

East of the Sun by Julia Gregson won an award as a romance, but really, it’s excellent literary fiction.Â
