Hey everyone, thanks for clicking. I’m 29 and have struggled all my life with maintaining a healthy, optimistic attitude towards life in general. For context I’ve dealt with anxiety disorders since the days I started forming memories and mood disorders as a result of it with neglect related trauma mixed in. I take medication, go to therapy, I exercise, but despite those aids I have held a stubborn, harsh belief system towards myself and everyday life. I’ve definitely fallen into victim mentality and have felt like a passenger in my life over the years which has lead me to an attitude of pessimism, defensiveness, overly-guarded, hopeless… you get the gist. At the moment I’m feeling the worst I’ve felt in a while and am tired of approaching life this way.

With that being said, I’m looking for a book to help me work towards a more positive attitude despite nearly a lifetime of the opposite. I don’t mean like the cookie cutter CBT stuff like ‘feeling good’ by Dr. Burns (which has it’s place and helps some people), maybe something anecdotal and nourishing with a slight instructional vibe mixed in?

Im open to any suggestions though, and I’d also like to hear any of your stories if you related and if you recommended a book how it affected you if you’d like to share. Thank you 🙂
