Hi everyone! I am getting into fiction for a change and would love some suggestions from this impressive collection of minds!
For context of what I am seeking :
Preferably female lead & authors OR queer people regardless of gender
(bonus if it’s both)
i’m not necessarily looking for a specific kind of story or genre (except please spare me from horror, i’m a wimp)
i like adventure, i like a seemingly mundane book with interesting interpersonal relationships, i like fantasy, i like dystopian novels, i like mythology, i like drama
mainly i am seeking to read a book where i really care about the characters, even if it is just the lead, but i want to love them, cry for them if need be, just be emotionally invested in their story
The last time i cried about a character was reading evelyn hugo a couple years ago , growing up i loved john green books or rick riordan – basically i just wouldn’t consider myself hard to please or a snob, i think the only books i avoid are colleen hoover (but maybe im judging the books by their cover) im open to any and all suggestions!
on my tbr list is :
– the song of achilles
– the hunger games (all 5)
-this is how you lose the time war (i started this book and im frustratingly confused due to lack of context, but im going to finish it to see if it gets better)
currently reading “the lord of opium” bc i read the first of its series as a kid and loved it, just itching my curiosity of what followed – honestly im enjoying it though its definitely slower paced so far

The Singing Hills series by Nghi Vo has a female author, a nonbinary main character, queer other characters, and very interesting relationships.
The discworld by Terry Pratchett and R.A.Salvatore with Drizzt and his friends.
The demon hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon?
