I am in love with pre-revolutionary France especially the reign of Louis XV and the early half of Louis XVI. I love everything about it, their tastes, their pleasures, their art. That period of time commands such a charisma which hasn’t been seen elsewhere. I really like the novel Dangerous Liaisons and the movie Ridicule for context. Are there any history books or literature that really captures the zeitgeist and the daily lives of the French nobility before the revolution? I find pre-revolutionary French nobles to be the most fascinating thing.
