Master-student duo, where master is the main character but student is the POV character

* The name of the rose – Bit too long but I liked the locked-room murder mystery setup

* Justice of Kings – Really liked the first book and second, third was ok

* Age of the Assassins – This doesn't fit exactly because I feel like the student is the main character
