I’m looking for books about the folks who inhabit the nooks and crannies of Vegas or Atlantic city, who crawl off the mattress on the floor of their dingy apartments to find another sketchy gig or score before a hazy night at the strip club. People who treat others mean and themselves meaner. Selfish, shady scumbags who don’t plan beyond today because they may not make it to tomorrow. Sunglasses that don’t come off because the hangover never goes away. Sex, lies, drugs, and deals. Forgotten family and friends that don’t last long. Every night’s a party and every morning’s a wake. The characters I want to read about may not all look just like this, but they all share the same sunken hearts. Any recs?
