coming of age/found family but female

i am a huge fan of coming of age books and movies — newsies, dead poets society, the outsiders, perks of being a wallflower, but i find we don’t get these types of stories about girls. i am looking for something with a similar vibe/message, well written characters, and preferably that is focused on female friendship and bonds than getting the guy. i am not super into fantasy or scifi, i like contemporary/modern settings and historical settings though.
(also, i loved ‘i who have never known men’, tho i did wish it explored the individual characters more)
