I don't usually have interest in romance literature, but I do like stories about a tragic, often unhealthy yearning. I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations for a book where the protagonist (preferably a female character) catches the admiration of a more antagonistic character. Please keep in mind that I am not looking for anything in the trashy stalker-romance genre, I'm more so looking for something akin to Phantom of The Opera or Labyrinth. I'll be super grateful for any suggestions!
