Ok, as the title suggests, I’m going on a week long road trip with my Dad. Driving from North Texas to San Francisco.
He’s a Boomer and a Trump-voter, and his non-fiction media diet is almost exclusively Fox News and Conservative talk radio. When he reads fiction it’s usually Louis L’amour Westerns.
I’m a Millennial with a literature degree, my friends are all they-thems who want to abolish the police, and I’m addicted to podcasts.
The two of us get along just fine. He’s kind and smart and I’m not closed-minded. And we’re both carpenters, so we can always talk about different types of plywood.
But we inhabit completely separate media environments. And with that much time on the road what are we going to listen to?
Maybe a history book about the Second World War? A Biography? Something about homesteading and survivalism?
