    Hey guys,
I'm currently getting back into reading and looking for a new book to read. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations that fit some of this criteria. I really enjoy stories that have:
    – Deep character development (overcoming/struggling with internal conflicts)
    – Some kind of fantasy/medieval setting or Post-apocalypse (Just, anytime where surviving in the wild is more difficult).
    – Worldbuilding: gods, religions, conflicts, wars, cities, different cultures (all that jazz)
    – Romance (hetero) but not too spicy. Like, characters fall in love, kiss, but it doesn't go into graphic detail about what happens during sex scenes, if there are any… I'm not a fan of erotica.
    – Dragons, monsters, fantasy creatures (good, bad, neutral or part of nature. It doesn't matter).
    – Companions (friends, family, lovers, party members) – I'm also partial to the "decides to travel and protect the innocent child" stereotype (Joel and Ellie from Tlou)
    – Isekai type stuff is also cool, but only when transported into a fantasy world.
    – Magic systems and sword combat. (Typical D&D fantasy stuff. If it has rules, even better.)
    – Communicating with spirits, animals, monsters through things like contracts, pacts or possessions.
    – Male/Female protagonist, 1st/3rd person, multiple character POVs (doesn't matter).

Your recommendations DON'T have to fit ALL the criteria. I'm just looking for books that you've read that have some of these elements. Feel free to summarise why you like the books too 🙂

    Some stuff I have read:
    – Sword Art Online: Progressive
    – Percy Jackson
    – Harry Potter
    – Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle)

I'm currently reading "Godkiller" by Hannah Kaner and I'm really enjoying it. It fits a lot of this criteria, except for the hetero romance (all the characters are bisexual), which is fine, just not my thing.

I've got my eye on "The Shadow of the Gods" by John Gwynne and "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy (saw the movie) next unless I get some stella recommendations.

    Thank you for your time!!!
P.s. Yes, I have made this post in other subs so I can get as many recommendations as possible 🙂

*The Deed of Paksenarrion* by Elizabeth Moon ticks most of your boxes. No dragons though.

    2. So here are two that only tick a few of your boxes:

Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman: gothic religious horror following an ex-knight, a young prophet girl, and a priest as the face the end of the world and get involved in a fight between heaven and hell. Not romantic, lots of monsters and demons, decent world building, kinda crazy

How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying: I actually DNFed this one, but the female main character does get isakied into a fantasy world and is stuck in a time loop.
