I subscribed to audible and just finished Billy Summers. It wasn't King's best, but I did enjoy it. Favorite was probably Hearts in Atlantis or Different Seasons, but I feel he has lost a step in the last 20-25 years, but still give Billy Summers an 8 out of 10.
I have read a ton of King's books and like his pacing (if it's not too long) and character development.
Any other authors/books out there, that are not too long, but are a great story, non-horror (just not feeling horror the last few years), maybe a rewarding ending and can grab you from page 3 like King? I've read about all of King, loved GRR Martin (although I don't have time for that length right now), but haven't branched out too much otherwise.
I considered some of the classics, like East of Eden, Count of Monte Cristo, or Slaughterhouse Five but I think I want something a little lighter or shorter.
