Getting a mini collection ready for the summer.

I have a ten year old boy – reluctant reader.

I have a 13 year old and a 16 year old (almost 17) – girls – trying to get them books that will get them hooked.

13 is a people lover and is a feeler of all emotions. Something loving and enlightening would be great. Is also a Disney lover.

16 year old is into murders and psychological thrillers. LOVED “To All the Boys I’ve Loved” – doesn’t like books that have different character perspective shift. Not into fantasy.

    Thank you!!

Maybe for the 16 year old the book “ The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” by Mark Haddon.

Since the 13 year old likes Disney she may enjoy the orginal pixie hollow books ( “Tales Of Pixie Hollow”) , but if they are too young for her she may like a recent pixie hollow book that’s come out aimed more at teens called “Wings Of Starlight” by Allison Saft.

There is also a series of Disney novels aimed at teens called “The Twisted Tales” all by different authors I’m pretty sure. Each book follows a famous Disney movie b has a “what if this thing was different” aspect to the story that changes the plot.

I know A LOT of young kids are really into the Dog Man series. That might be something your ten year old would be interested in. If not some other graphic novels (I find graphic novels are a great starting place for kids who are reluctant to read ) could be: “Amulet” series by Kazu Kibuishi, the graphic novel adaptation of the Percy Jackson (the book series itself might be a good place to start as well!) series , “The Witch Boy” by Molly Knox Ostertag, “Garlic and The Vampire” by Bree Paulsen, “Pilu Of The Woods” by Mai K Nguyen. If he is into superheroes there are some aimed at younger readers as well 🙂
