HELLO first time posting here so apologies if i mix any rules up :"D

For some ideas as to what I like, I loved the earthsea cycle, discworld, the entire farseer series (weeps I'm still damaged I read it a month ago please DONT recommend me anything like that until I've recovered– /hj), and the Emily of new moon series–also grishaverse but once again I'm damaged mentally so like can't stand anything that sad I've blocked out the ending I was so devastated–

For some idea as to what I don't like!
LORD OF THE RINGS I really want to love it but I've tried reading it over a million times and COULDNT EVEN FINISH IT 😭😭😭😭 I know it's a wonderful series this is genuinely the bane of my existence I can read the most boring books with no problem and yet–
also anything with simplistic prose because I get some kind of syndrome and subconsciously assume the book'll be low quality 😭😭😭

    • I prefer older books because I like reading them (best reason ik–)
    • preferably not TOO much swearing like I don't MIND really but it makes the books sound very solid and I prefer lighter stuff to read (with my current mental state SOBBING)

If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard. It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.

(Also, it took me like a million tries over several years to fully get through Lord of the Rings. Listening to the audiobooks is what finally worked for me.)
