Cynthia Voigt’s *The Wings of a Falcon* feature one of thr most interesting characters I’ve seen in Fantasy Literature.
Oriel is charismatic, a natural leader. He sees what needs to be done, and he does it. He’s also callous, thoughtless, and possessing a tendency to expect the world to arrange itself around him.
The events of the last third of the book are essentially set into motion by the conflict between the two.
