I just finished rereading this book and it’s just so good. It’s so raw it’s so sad it’s so messed up and I love how invested I get. It’s hard for me to get into books but I’ve found a niche that I’m fascinated by and it’s drug addiction, particularly heroin. My two favourite one so far are the one by christiane F and candy by Luke Davies, again, really raw and tragic. I find the side hustles fascinating in both books, the stealing the the prostitution the lifestyle anything for the next hit and I’m trying to find another book that can capture me the same way. I also would be down for some AIDS themes if incorporated, I found that really interesting in both trainspotting and Gia(I watched the movies for these).
I saw a lot of people suggest trainspotting and while I enjoyed the movie I didn’t think it was super amazing either, but I guess the Christiane F movie isn’t that great either if u compare it to the book(still v good tho but just wayyy too summarised i think), is the trainspotting book a lot better than the movie?
Do you have any more suggestions with these themes, the more raw and gut wrenching the better

Maybe you would enjoy “Just Kids”? Patti Smiths prose is beautiful and it also addresses themes like AIDS and addiction, even though it is not the book‘s central subject. But just like “Christiane F.” it’s about young people trying to figure out their lives in a big city and under difficult circumstances.
