Looking for a low stakes stand alone fantasy book. Something about living on a farm or in nature but in a magical or alien setting. Dystopian would be okay as well. Preferably focused on one character or a small family.
Hoping for some conflict and feels, but overall uplifting. no romance. Bonus points for an animal or spirit companion.

well Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree is an obvious choice (or the prequel Bookshops & Bonedust) though not necessarily rural
TJ Klune has some low stakes cozy, like The House in the Cerulean Sea; In the Lives of Puppets; and Under the Whispering Door
