I'm starting a library for my niece (9) and nephew (just turned 7). I'm trying to focus on diversity of both characters and genres. I'm especially interested in early reader books. My neice is already a big reader but my nephew has just found the first series of books he enjoys reading on his own (Dragon Masters) and I hope to keep the energy going.

I'm already familiar with a lot of classics/modern classics of children's literature. Hoping for some more contemporary gems.

I just recently found out about the Tyme series by Megan Morrison and it truly is a hidden gem. I’m baffled why it isn’t more popular. I believe it’s considered middle grade, but I’m not sure what age it would be best for — maybe slightly older than 9. It’s whimsical, fun fantasy with some more mature/thoughtful themes (which it handles with wisdom and nuance).
