Suggest me some books!
Hey everyone! My boyfriend surprised me with a Mother’s Day gift—he’s taking me to Barnes & Noble tomorrow for the Book Challenge! I have five minutes to pick any books I want, and he’s going to buy them all. I already have a few I want to grab in mind, but if you all have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate them.
I’m relatively new to the fantasy genre, so any book recommendations that are great starting points would be fantastic. Also I love romance and dystopian novels too, so any suggestions are welcome! I’m so excited and a bit anxious about it—I just want it to be tomorrow already! 😆

Just for the Summer Abby Jimenez
I’m not a huge fantasy reading but I really enjoyed the Fourth Wing Series.
The House in the Cerulean Sea and Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune.
Have fun and share your haul!
Oh man, this would stress me out so much.
For traditional fantasy, I love Martha Wells’ stand alone novels “The Wheel of the Infinite” and “The City of Bones.” I haven’t read it myself yet, but “the Bear and the Nightingale” by Katherine Arden is popular. I also like Lois McMaster Bujold’s “Sharing Knife” series but I don’t know if Barnes & Noble still carries it.
For cozy fantasy, I liked “the Teller of Small Fortunes” by Julie Leong and “the Spellshop” by Sarah Beth Durst. cozy fantasy is sort of like Hallmark movies for the fantasy genre. There are low stakes, they’re pleasant to read, the prose is simple, and you know everything is going to be all right in the end.
The “Lord of the Rings” trilogy by Tolkein is the inspiration for a lot of modern fantasy clichés but the writing style is not modern.
Sarah J Maas is a popular romantasy author. Her two most popular series are the “throne of glass series” and “the court of thorns and roses series”
