Looking for fictional books about cults. Recently I got super fascinated with different types of cults and went down a longgg rabbit hole of podcasts about American cults, my favorite being Heaven’s Gate. I'm so interested in the psychological aspects of them. Hoping to read something that prominently features any type of cult from the perceptive of the leader, an onlooker, or someone falling victim to one. Thank you Reddit!! :))

*The Girls* by Emma Cline is about a teenage girl who falls in with a Charles Manson-type cult. The twist is that she becomes enamored with the older girls who follow the leader, not the leader himself. (CW: >!sexual assault!<)
*The Children of Red Peak* by Craig Dilouie is also about a cult, but I think they’re worshipping a supernatural entity.
Forgot to mention, preferably something with little to no fantasy elements
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk.
Acadia – Lauren Groff
Watch it Burn by Kristen Bird isn’t wholly about cults but takes inspiration from NXIVM
After the Fire by Will Hill
Last days- novel. Kinda sucked
Chaos- real book about mason cult and it’s conspiratorial connections to government
*Inside the Outside* by Martin Lastrapes for a cannibal cult story with heart.
