Adam Bede is a classic by George Elliott set in bucolic, pastoral Victorian England.
It is about a love triangle in the countryside. It’s still taught today at universities worldwide. Good book.

Patrick Taylor’s Irish Country Doctor series. Especially considering you said you were looking for books somewhat similar to James Herriot’s works.
Whereas Herriot’s books are about being a small town vet in Yorkshire starting in the 1930s, Taylor’s books are about being a small town doctor in Ireland pretty much starting in the 1960s. Both series have quirky characters too. And like Herriot was a real life vet, Taylor was a real life doctor. Despite the similarities, it is not as though The Irish Country Doctor series is just a retelling of Herriot’s books just with a different profession.
