    Hello,

I'm looking for a book with a main protagonist who is an anti-hero, not your typical good guy. I enjoy exaggerated gangster stories with strong character work. I'm a huge fan of anything by Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino, and I absolutely adored Peaky Blinders. My favorite films include The Gentlemen and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, especially characters like Ray (Charlie Hunnam) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) – calm, competent, and quietly dangerous.

I've read The Godfather, The Sicilian, and The Last Don by Mario Puzo and loved all of them. I also read The Count of Monte Cristo, which is probably the best book I've ever read. I enjoy stories with revenge, manipulation, long-term schemes, or criminal underworlds.

Someone once recommended The First Law trilogy to me (which I found in a similar thread online), and while I gave it a shot, it felt a bit too weird or fantasy-heavy for my taste. I'm now looking for something a bit more grounded in reality, ideally contemporary or historical crime fiction.

I also love James Bond as a character, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any of the Ian Fleming novels in my country.

    I'm looking for:
    – A main character who is morally ambiguous or an anti-hero
    – Strong focus on scheming, power plays, or criminal activity
    – Plenty of action or tension
    – Bonus if it's from the perspective of a gangster or criminal figure

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It’s fantasy, but give **Low Town** Series by Daniel Polansky a try. The mc is a drug dealer in a dark, gritty fantasy city.

The Burke series by Andrew Vachss. I always recommend people start with the second book, Strega, and then go back and read the first book if they like it. Before warned the author was a lawyer who defended abused children, so the books go to some very dark places.

If you’re interested in a graphic novel I’d checkout criminal by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips

The Parker novels by Richard Stark (Donald Westlake) are exactly what you want. Parker is a nasty piece of work.
