I’ve read books by James Baldwin recently and am so glad I decided to read his work. So far I’ve only read “Giovanni’s Room” and I’m finishing up “If Beale Street Could Talk”. He does amazing job developing his characters and touching on difficult topics. I also am amazed with how applicable the scenarios he wrote about are still applicable to today. It’s made me realize how the identity issues people faced in the 50’s is still applicable to today.
Anywho, I’d love to hear any suggestions for my next Baldwin read? I’d also be happy to get any book or author suggestions that have a similar vibe to James Baldwin!

If you’re looking for something nonfiction of his, read The Fire Next Time. For fiction that is heavy on the religious themes, try Go Tell It on the Mountain. I really enjoyed Tell Me How Long the Train’s Been Gone as well but it’s definitely one I don’t see often!
Another Country is a masterpiece.
