I like adult humour or light swearing in books i think it's funny but I dont want to read like in depth paragraphs about two people getting it on, but it's impossible to find books like that that aren't for 12 year olds or for 80 year olds. Im at the age where i need action but not so much that it's unbelievable, and i need to be able to understand the words!! Examples are guardians of the galaxy (but if it was a book) or Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I tried looking in YA sections but they're all 'omg Jake is so hot! And also it's alpha school!'

    TL;DR:

books like guardians of the galaxy and Project Hail Mary. Believable but interesting, funny, and between adult and kids science fiction.

I highly recommend the Murderbot Diaries series by Martha wells. The first novella is named All Systems Red. The main character even skips over sex scenes in the TV shows that it watches.
