disclaimer: I'm not interested if romance is a big central focus, but won't turn it down either if it's not too toxic [can you tell i don't like certain romantsy lmao] – and it's canon queerness, but I'm okay with it if it can be 'read' that way when the author never confirms or denies it
I just want something meaty to dig into and bit of a inspiration and hope as a writer/artist who wants to make a big queer fantasy someday as well.
I picked up the first book for Realm of Elderlings cause I was led to believe it had a queerness to it only to find out that was 100% fanon interpretation, lmao [i'm still gonna read it cause I hear it's really good anyways]
to get an idea of writing styles I've def enjoyed a lot: the Pendragon series, Bartimaeus Trilogy, His Dark Materials, and Delicious in Dungeon; unfortunately i don't think i've really read a new fantasy series in years that stuck with me – I would prefer something more adult over YA though YA is fine too
note: Gideon the Ninth might get suggested here so I'll just say – it just didn't entice my interest in it at all, I'm sorry, I really don't feel like reading it at all. I'm more interested in either trans, nonbinary or m/m stories.
