What’s your favorite book that nobody mentions on here? TPratchett and Tolkien are great, but give me the most niche, non- NYT Bestsellers that you devoured anyway. Any genre.
For me, I highly recommend One Must Tell the Bees, a Sherlock Holmes story set in the American civil war. Also Fox Creek, a mystery set in the wilderness between Canada and Minnesota.

I absolutely love Ron Rash. One Foot in Eden is Appalachian murder mystery.
Also for another Appalachian gem.. check out th stories of Breece D’j Pancake. It’s a collection of their short stories and they are incredible.
*And There was Light* by Jacques Lusseyran is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s a World War II memoir of a blind teenager who worked for a clandestine newspaper in Vichy France as part of the French Resistance. It’s beautiful and moving and offers a truly unique perspective on life, and it covers a piece of WWII history that is far less talked about.
