Fonda Lee has written a recent trilogy called Green Bone Saga and it is the best trilogy I’ve read from this century. It is an urban fantasy that has great politics that are akin to Peaky Blinders on Netflix while having the traditional roots of the Japanese style cultures and family values. The magic system is fantastic without having overpowered characters or having magic outweigh everything. The characters, world building and the character arcs that she provides are top tier! Her prose is very modern and easy to read, yet she has a subtle approach to dialogue and emotional scenes that just pull you in and get you attached to the cast. I recommend to everyone, and have never had anyone tell me they were disappointed…… or just go read Lonesome Dove for the best western ever!
