For me, it was Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan. It’s about this young girl, Cécile, who’s kind of detached and manipulative, and the whole story has this haunting, carefree vibe, even though it’s about some pretty heavy stuff. I haven’t read anything that felt as strange and unsettling since.
