Random I know, but im going to hawaii soon and I'd love to read while at the beach. Thing is, I normally read action filled fantasy or horror books. That doesn't fit the vibe so im looking for suggestions! What's your current favorite!?
No romance please.
Thanks!

What are you in the mood for? What are some books you’ve read (or movies or shows you’ve watched) that fit the vibe?
That being said, Liane Moriarty writes unputdownable stories that I’d want to read on vacation. Great plots, good writing and well developed characters. Start with Big Little Lies.
Rise of the Manō. The Legends and Myths of Hawaii. Legends of Gods and Ghosts.
I worked at a bookstore on the beach, and the bestseller was Elin Hilderbrand. She’s well-known for her beach reads, and while they do include romance, they’re not “spicy” or sexual, usually. If you’re looking to avoid romance altogether, here are my recs:
God of the Woods (70s murder thriller set in a summer camp, perfect for the beach vibe with still a bit of that horror you like)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (this has been on my TBR pile forever, and it’s on a lot of beach reads lists – old hollywood star tells her story of friendship, betrayal, and ambition)
If you’re into cozy reads set in bookstores, I’d recommend Diary of a Bookseller, Confessions of a Bookseller, and Remainders of the Day by Shaun Bythell.
I’d second Gone Girl, which has been recommended, and I’ll raise you The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Definitely a good thriller beach read!
