Hi!
I'm looking for a novel, preferably written in a modern, accessible style, that symbolizes or explores the theme of breaking free from a toxic situation or relationship.
It doesn't have to be strictly about romantic relationships; it could also be about reclaiming personal freedom, overcoming emotional manipulation, or finding strength after being held back. I’d love something empowering, thought-provoking, or emotionally resonant.
Fiction is preferred, but memoirs are welcome too if they're powerful and not too specific to the person.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance!

The House on the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune could fit this. It is a story about a lot of things but mostly, a journey to leaving your own bubble (in this case fueled by propaganda) to find the real and true happiness in life. It is less personal relationship and more how we relate to society and how society can reinforce authoritarian views on differences. It’s a wonderful read about acceptance and finding your people on your own terms.
