I always had my nose in a book as a kid and teen. During college and university I stopped reading for fun. I thought I would eventually pick it up again; it appears this hobby/habit that will need some work to get back into.
I had an interest in audiobooks but would only listen to them while doing chores and I don’t enjoy the subscription costs.
I can’t seem to finish anything. I used to enjoy listening or reading Stephen King, Agatha Christie, and Neil Gaiman. Thrillers and adult fantasy used to be my go too. I have re-read “The 100 Year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared” several times.
I am open to various genres, but something light and easy to read might be best to get started.

Dungeon Crawler Carl
My go-to recommendation: Shogun by Clavell. Once I was hooked the story swallowed me whole.
How do you feel about short stories?
The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson is great. Unsettling and surreal
Torchlight Parade by Jeanpaul Ferro
It’s a sneaky thriller about the man who killed Hitler.
If u r in the UK you can use BorrowBox to get audiobooks for free. ‘Big little lies’ drew me in immediately
Have you ever read any of the Preston and Child books? I have read a few in the Agent Pendergast series. They are thriller mysteries with a tinge of horror/supernatural. Pretty easy reads. The first is Relic.
*Magpie Murders* by Anthony Horowitz
The author of 100 year old man has written other books. The girl who saved the king of Sweden and hit man anders are also very good.
If you like the humour in those books maybe try Terry Pratchett discworld series. There are a ton to choose from and they don’t need to be read in order. They are also quite short which may make it easier to get into and finish.
I liked Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak.
If you have a kindle, the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.
