Y'all I'm on a hardcore time travel (& adjacent) kick. I've found some great reads searching this sub but am looking for more!
Two of my favorite books of all time are King's 11/23/63 and The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch. I love the former because it allows me to experience history from the perspective of someone who would react to a lot of things with the same fascination or incredulity that I might. I love the latter because it's a tangled mess of memory, experience, paradox, potentiality, and fun sci-fi tech.
Examples of others I have enjoyed:
-
The Other Valley by Scott Alexander Howard (can't stop thinking about this one!!)
-
Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor (will be reading more of this series)
-
Island in the Sea of Time (etc) by SM Stirling (though this author is clearly weird about women…but I love the "speculative fiction" nature of people going into the past to change the course of history)
-
Timeline by Michael Crichton
-
The Peripheral by William Gibson
-
Dark Tower series (for the parallel world stuff)
-
Kindred by Octavia Butler
-
(tv examples) The Devil's Hour, Westworld
Examples that I could not get into:
-
Time and Again by Jack Finney
-
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
-
Connie Willis (I enjoyed Blackout but her books left me feeling like I was reading the same thing over and over with details changed)
Bonus points if available in a (good) audiobook, but not required.
Thanks in advance!! 🦖
