I have so many books on my TBR but I genuinely can’t get myself to pick one to read. I tried starting the woven kingdom but the first few chapters are hell to get through (anyone who read it please convince me to continue).

I’ve been wanting to read ACOTAR for so long but I’ve seen mixed reviews… however it’s easy to please me so I might like it but again, someone convince me to read it.

Which of these should I start with?

Grab the shortest book. Doesn’t matter what it is unless it’s in a series. Finishing a book will help your brain reset.

    2. Pick one, stick to it, and ignore the craving to abandon it in favor of another one. Every story is interesting, and some only become interesting over time, and those are often deepest and most intriguing. And if it is not? Well, you strayed from your interests for a little bit, you will not be harmed.

I normally grab a book of short stories if I’m in a reading slump, finishing a story, however short, gives me a boost!

I recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl, especially the audiobooks. I couldn’t stop listening, and they’re so fun!!!

    5. Bro just read. If you need to be convinced then do you really want to? It’s fine to take a break from reading.

Have you tried reading graphic novels? Sometimes when I’m in a slump I read a bunch of manhwas.

I find that genre fatigue often gives me the same feeling. If you feel like you’ve been reading tons of the same genre maybe switch it up and give something different a read through. I have found that books I never would have thought I would’ve liked broke me out of reading slumps because I was so genre focused for a while.

If that’s not the case then disregard all of that.

Mix up your genres that always helps! I’ve put some recommendations for slumps for each genre. I find that reading a good thriller helps if you’re reading too much of fantasy or romance, etc.

      Fantasy:
      -A Touch of Darkness
      -Kingdom of the Wicked
-City of Gods and Monsters (this is a bigger book though)

      Romance:
      -The Dead Guy Next Door
      -The Fine Print
      -Anything by Elsie Silver

      Thrillers:
      -The Naturals
      -A Good Girl’s Guide to M*urder
      -Then She Was Gone
      -The House Across the Lake

I have dark romance recs too but I know not everyone reads that genre, so let me know! Hope this helps!

I’m almost through the acotar series. It’s well worth the read. I did find book one to be a hard read, the last 100 pages or so are good. But the second book is so worth pushing through the first.

Or you could just have a break from reading. Or maybe even re-read something you absolutely loved.

    10. When I get this feeling, whether it’s for reading or a different hobby, I have a few different ways to tackle it.

First, taking a break to focus on other hobbies. If I really don’t feel drawn to reading, I’m not gonna force myself to read anyways just for the sake of doing it. Maybe I’ll take the time I would spend reading and instead go to another hobby like playing video games or something. After a bit of a break I might feel more drawn to reading, or maybe just playing a certain game or watching a certain movie will make me want to start reading a certain kind of book (for example, I played Silent Hill 2 remake a few months ago and that pushed me into wanting to read Japanese horror books).

The other approach (which I’ve already seen mentioned here) is to sorta take yourself out of your comfort zone and try reading something you normally wouldn’t. No idea how much variety you usually have in your reading, but I know the books you mentioned in your post are both in that romance/fantasy category (which is completely fine, not trying to imply that’s bad!), if that’s usually what you read maybe it would be helpful to try reading something completely different that’ll feel more fresh to you? Jumping into a genre you aren’t familiar with can be super exciting, might be worth a shot!
