When I talk about the End of History, I am referring to the the controversial book by Francis Fukuyama.
The period from the end of the Cold War to 9/11 or the Iraq war (1991-2001/3), an era of people struggling with materialism and trying to rediscover what it means to be human. I love films of this era, from American Beauty, Magnolia, Bringing out the Dead, and to an extent Fight Club.
It is interesting to be immersed into an era where people were earnestly struggling with things that now seem so banal.
I haven't read a fiction book for years, but I regularly read non-fiction (for uni and for pleasure), so I am trying to get back into reading fiction. When it comes to films, I like themes of romance, unreliable narrators, banality/bleakness.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
