I know that's an odd way of phrasing it but I like books with feelings of solitude, loneliness, desolation, (I'm a real sucker for lone wanderers in ancient ruins) etc. Stories with lots of description and little dialogue. Does anyone have any recommendations for books like this?

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah – it’s a historical fiction based in Alaska after the Vietnam War
found some beautiful prose here [quiet-books](https://zilu.app/discover/quiet-books), you can do a more specific search in there too
Well, I can suggest the one I’m reading currently because it’s right in that wheelhouse: “Zorrie” by Laird Hunt. It’s about a woman named Zorrie who lives in rural Indiana and experiences a lot of personal hardship. Lots of vivid descriptions of rural life from 1930 to 19??. (Haven’t fully finished but would still recommend.) Bonus if you need a book that starts with “Z” for a reading challenge.
The Searchers by Alan Le May.
The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
