My two favorite books are 1984 and The Secret History. In 1984, I really enjoyed Orwell’s writing and the dystopian and sci fi themes. What I loved about The Secret History, was Tart’s beautiful prose as well as the character complexity and psychological depth.
Another book I enjoyed was The Left Hand of Darkness. Similar to how Tart vividly captured a Vermont autumn in the TSH, I loved how Le Guin set the atmosphere of the cold, winter planet of Gethen.
I’m not looking for any specific genre, just something that has good writing, character complexity, and potentially incorporates seasonal atmosphere.
